Version 2.0 of fmLog – Free Download

Imagine this scenario:
At 4:47 p.m. Fred in sales opens the company’s FileMaker system and navigates to the contact list layout. He selects a contact and clicks a button to print a report of communications in the last three months. A beach ball icon spins for a few seconds, but nothing prints. Assuming something is wrong with the printer, Fred submits a ticket with the IT support desk and goes home for the day.

The next morning, Carrie in marketing wants a list of contacts added to the database in the last month. She logs in and perform a find, but strangely, no contacts show up. She tries again a different way, but gets the same result. Manually scanning the contact table confirms her suspicion: the records are missing. She submits an urgent support ticket to have the most recent backup restored. As the developer of the database, you receive this request minutes later.

June 6th Portland FileMaker Meetup

It was good to see folks again this month, for another meeting at AppWorks command HQ.  (I missed last month’s meeting, unfortunately. I was looking forward to hearing the stories from Pause on Error.)  Here are some of the highlights.

There are big changes in the licensing of FM 17.  AppWorks’ own Shawn Prado has a thorough article covering that topic.  When you purchase a 5-user license you get 3 copies of Server now.  That raised an interesting question: Does this mean you can put one of those on FileMaker Cloud with the BYOL option, instead of buying one through the FM Cloud interface?  It used to be that when you used the BYOL option your server license would get converted to FMCloud and NOT be returnable to standalone server installations at a later date if you moved off the cloud.  This then led to some discussion on hosting and server environments.

Create native FileMaker apps on Android and iOS with LCFM Native

Tags :

We’re excited to announce that our friends at LiveCode are organizing a campaign to make FileMaker solutions a native app on Android and iOS with LCFM Native.

Why are we excited about this? Originally, the LiveCode for FileMaker team was focusing on the Android connection, but after feedback from FileMaker groups like PDXFM, they decided to refocus on the native aspect. This move makes the system more robust and more beneficial for the FileMaker community and all mobile users.

How robust and beneficial?
